Since the world’s first straw-fired power plant was constructed in Denmark in 1990 using DP’s pioneering technology, we have led the development of the biomass industry around the world. We have developed and established new power plant solutions in Europe, Asia and Africa including China’s first commercial biomass power plant in Shanxian; Thailand’s first large scale coconut waste-to-energy power plant; and the first of DP’s Advanced Integrated Multifuel Systems is in development in Sri Lanka. Browse our timeline to see the milestones we have achieved as we have expanded the breadth of our solutions, the range of our capabilities and development of new partnerships to meet the needs of clients around the world.
DP CleanTech’s combined European expertise in biomass and waste-to-energy solutions has helped customers across Europe in providing clean, reliable and cost-effective solutions for expanding renewable energy portfolios and meeting government targets. We have also helped many existing power plants improve performance and convert to more sustainable fuel sources.
DP CleanTech developed China’s first biomass power plant in 2006 using European technology, and has since built, on average, one plant every 2 months. DP technology is key to around 30% of the HTHP biomass power plants operating in China today. Today, DP’s operation in China is focused on procurement and engineering to support our global projects.
Our range of solutions has been optimized for the complex fuels found in the region. In 2009 the Thai office was established in Bangkok; and from here DP can offer the solutions and the execution to successfully deliver projects throughout SE Asia. Thailand is one of the more advanced biomass markets in the SEA and Australasia region, and located in Bangkok provides greater visibility of the whole market and the ability to respond rapidly within the region. DP built the world’s first “coconut waste-to-energy” plant in the world, which started operation in April 2016. Its success has been well recognized and the plant is an example of DP’s expertise in providing technical and practical solutions that are founded on a deep understanding of fuel combustion characteristics.
In the Middle East, DP has long-established relationships with leading waste management companies and environmental services companies; and has multiple landfill and waste management references operational throughout the region. The growth of more environmentally sustainable approaches to MSW and improvements in source separation will see increased activity in this region; and DP’s Dubai office is the focal point for Middle East activities.
DP CleanTech is dedicated to developing energy recovery solutions and waste management from an increasing variety of biomass and waste streams worldwide. We have pioneered the effective utilization of many very abundant, but complex, fuels; and we are committed to extending the benefits of this technology around the world. We have partners in Latin America with whom we are bidding on projects for sugar cane trash; and we are also working on projects in Australia and Canada for new fuel types.
Our business is founded on technology solutions that can make a positive difference to the quality of our environment and the lives of local communities. Our business operates on the belief that by developing and managing it in a manner that is consistently socially, ethically and economically responsible, we will create an enterprise that is progressively more competitive, sustainable and profitable.
