The chemical composition and combustion characteristics of biomass and waste fuels differ widely. As conversion technologies have been adapted for use in new markets, the range of biomass fuel types considered suitable for direct combustion has increased to include tropical and other complex fuel types. Similarly, the rapidly growing problem of waste management has led to greater focus on converting waste to energy, and the range of MSW and RDF/SDF types is very broad. The science of fuel analysis is critical and DP’s experience in designing power plants for over 60 types of biomass fuel is fundamental to success.
