Energos™

DP’s gasification solution is a commercially proven European waste to energy gasification technology from Energos. This extensively proven technology is suitable for converting all types of non-recyclable commercial and household waste to energy; and has the added benefit of very low emissions. The patented technology is highly flexible and modular, to meet smaller scale needs for distributed power and can be expanded accordingly to optimise fuel processing capacity and energy production.

Energos technology is commercially successful and technically proven since 1997. With over 800,000 operating hours at 8 plants across Europe, and with availability levels of up to 8,000 hours p/a, the plants are commercially successful. With this and help local authorities meet the EU Landfill Directive.

The ENERGOS plant design is offered with two standard boiler capacity designs:

  • A Type 40 plant features a boiler with a nominal capacity of 13.5MW.
  • A Type 50 plant features a boiler with a nominal capacity of 16.4MW.

There are two standard module sizes that relate to the fuel processing capacity of the gasifier. They have the nominal capacity to treat either 5 tonnes per hour or 6 tonnes per hour.

  • The modular technology facilitates flexibility in materials and plant scale, and can be used with a wide range of unrefined waste materials. It features a patent-protected combustion furnace with grate and rod feeder, and is managed by a proprietary control system which operates the 2 stage thermal conversion.
  • Stage one: Primary chamber where gasification of the waste takes place to produce a synthetic gas.
  • Stage two: Secondary chamber where the synthetic gas is oxidised at a high temperature.
  • A highly controlled process enables a simple dry flue gas treatment system to be employed, eliminating the need for a sophisticated and costly end of pipe flue-gas treatment system, and ensuring low and stable emission levels.
