DP CleanTech signs contract with ARSA (Thailand) for WtE project pre-engineering

DP CleanTech CEO Simon Parker and ARSA Holding Co. Ltd signed an exclusive contract to undertake the required pre-engineering work for a 9.9MWe Waste to Energy (Municipal Solid Waste) Project near Chiangmai, in the North of Thailand. The project is in Phayao province, and will be a contributor to the WtE renewable energy target of 500MW (by 2036) which is outlined in the Thailand Alternative Energy Development Plan 2015-2036.
DP CleanTech will use proprietary technology and knowhow to provide the conceptual engineering and support services to facilitate the approvals and financing process for ARSA.
DP CEO Simon Parker commented that “We see great potential for WtE in Thailand but we also predict that the industry here will need a different business model from the past in order to be successful. European costs are not sustainable, whilst a “China solution” replica is not suitable for the Thai environment. A combination of European technical knowledge and an astute application of lessons learned from the WtE industry in China will be the most appropriate solution for the Thai market, bypassing the costs of a European model and the pitfalls of a China transplant model”.
ARSA Holding Co. CEO Mr.Thew Laypananon added that “To date, WtE projects in Thailand have underperformed and generally have a poor reputation. We aim to change this perception, and by conducting a rigorous feasibility, planning and technology selection exercise, we believe that we can develop a successful project which will prove to be a model for the future”.
The project is targeted for approval in September, 2016 and will represent DP’s second project in Thailand.
Founded in 2004, DP CleanTech designs, engineers, manufactures and commissions biomass and waste to energy power plants, providing complete solutions for turning waste materials into clean energy. DP CleanTech’s high pressure, high temperature technology was originally developed in Denmark and is behind over 80 biomass power plants around the world. Today, DP CleanTech is recognized as a world leader in the biomass clean energy field with a strong presence in both Europe and Asia and a growing presence in Africa and South America. DP CleanTech built the first biomass power plant in China and is responsible for over 30% of the biomass power plants operating in China today.
