DP CleanTech and GuangDong ShaoNeng Group Co. Ltd conclude deal for 2 x 30MWe biomass project in China

Biomass specialist DP CleanTech has announced its first contract of 2016 – a 2 x 30MWe biomass project which was signed recently with Guangdong Shaoneng Group Co., Ltd. One of Shaoneng Group’s primary businesses is power generation, and they currently operate primarily in domestic markets.

The XinFeng project is located in the industrial township of Matou, GuangDong province, and is the second project in Guangdong between DP and Shaoneng Group. The first project in ShaoGuan (approximately 100km from XinFeng) has been operating successfully since 2013. This second project represents the first 60MW phase of a planned 120MW installed capacity and will not only contribute to a significant increase in the proportion of power from renewable sources  but will also create more than 200 local jobs. The fuel type for both projects consists mainly of agricultural and other woody waste materials. The new 2 x 30MWe clean energy plant will be capable of processing 500,000 tons of waste biomass fuel per year with an annual power output of 480MKW.h. This equates to the output of 160,000 tonnes of standard coal; and compared to coal, the CO2 and SO2 emissions levels will be reduced by 360,000 tons and 2000 tons respectively. The solution for the XinFeng project will also incorporate several significant product improvements to boost performance and reduce operating costs.

The contract is for an integrated biomass combustion solution consisting of 2 x 130tph boiler islands; and includes auxiliaries such as the fuel feeding system, ID/FD fan, bag filter, slag removal, emissions control and instrumentation.
DPCleanTech CEO remarked that “We congratulate ShaoNeng on their leadership in demonstrating how professionally developed and managed biomass power plants can make strong, positive contributions to local economies and to a better environment. We are delighted to be working with them on their 2nd project and we believe that together, we are on a journey of continuous improvement. What we have learnt from our first project with ShaoNeng will be applied to the XinFeng project so that the project will be implemented effectively and will operate even more efficiently”.

Founded in 2004, DP CleanTech designs, engineers, manufactures and commissions biomass and waste to energy power plants, providing complete solutions for turning waste materials into clean energy. DP CleanTech’s high pressure, high temperature technology was originally developed in Denmark and is behind over 80 biomass power plants around the world.  Today, DP CleanTech is recognized as a world leader in the biomass clean energy field with a strong presence in both Europe and Asia and a growing presence in Africa and South America. DP CleanTech built the first biomass power plant in China and is responsible for over 30% of the biomass power plants operating in China today.
