Official opening of the OPEC Grudziądz plant!

Many congratulations to our DP team on the official handover and commissioning ceremony of the OPEC Grudziądz plant - the first steam boiler fueled by loose straw in Poland!! The ceremony in January showcased the significant investment made towards decarbonisation, which is worth over PLN 100 million. DP's technology is used to provide 12.5MW of heat and electricity using loose, locally sourced straw. This will significantly reduce coal consumption, processing and energy costs. Approximately 40% of heat generation is now from local straw sources, reducing coal consumption by approximately 19,000 tons/yr; CO₂ emissions by 43,000 tons/year; as well as meeting strict European NOx standards. With dust removal over 99%, the plant is one of the cleanest energy production sources available. The project has created enormous interest, not least for the positive benefits for the region and local agriculture. Attending the ceremony at Łąkowa CHP were many local dignitaries, press reporters and representatives from other municipal heat producers and energy companies interested in replicating the concept. The DP Poland team executed the project, and as always, took the time to gain additional useful knowledge for future projects. During the proceedings, DP's Radoslaw Babij shared some of the execution challenges  and also discussed DP's proven biomass solutions which are behind over 100 plants around the world, using 60+ biomass fuel types. Overall, It was a great opportunity to be part of the celebration and to share congratulations with everyone involved in the successful delivery of this complex project.
