DP signs an exclusive representation agreement with FECO in Taiwan

DP has further consolidated its coverage in the Asia Pacific region with the signing of an exclusive representation agreement with FECO, a leading renewable company in Taiwan. Since the late 1980’s, Taiwan has been an active proponent of modern waste management practices. The government has now identified a 2025 target to generate 20% of its electricity through renewable energy; a goal which will embrace the further development of all renewable energy technologies. With the signing of this agreement FECO will represent DP’s broad portfolio of DP’s advanced waste to energy technologies in Taiwan, to advance the considerable progress already made.

The waste management and disposal infrastructure in Taiwan is highly developed -  and at 60%, Taiwan has one of the highest recycling rates in the world. Much of the remaining waste is incinerated, including kitchen and organic waste. However, many of the existing incineration plants are nearing the end of their service life; and incineration of kitchen waste further reduces their efficiency. The government has identified a need for incineration plant upgrades; diversification of kitchen waste treatment options for a more productive use of feedstock; and continued landfill management to achieve ‘Zero Landfill, Total Recycling’ objectives. A 6 year government backed plan for improvements is in place, and  with the support of DP’s waste to energy experts and access to DP’s portfolio of advanced technologies, FECO is well placed to be part of this next phase of development that is renewing focus on plant optimisation; maximizing the conversion of all types of waste to energy and improvements to landfill management.
